ABSTRACT A device for protecting fluid ports in a mold used for molding plastic cellular containers from polystyrene beads comprises an annular groove provided in the side wall of the mold, fluid ports open into the groove and an annular coil adapted to be fitted into the groove. The interstices between the coils are of such dimension as to prevent clogging of the fluid ports by expanding polystyrene beads upon their heating by a heating medium emitted from the ports.
