Abstract Disclosed is a digital radio paging communication system having a transmitter and a plurality of receivers. The transmitter generates a preamble signal, a synchroniæation signal, a plurality of calling signals and a stabilization signal, respectively, which are arranged into a sequence of first signals including the preamble signal and at least one batch, the batch including the synchronization signal and the plurality of calling signals which are divided into a plurality of groups, each group having the stabilization signal at the leading portion thereof. A carrier wave is modulated with the sequence of first signals and then transmitted. Each of the plurality of receivers is adapted to receive the modulated carrier wave and demodulate it into the sequence of synchronization signals and is responsive to at least the demodulated preamble signal and stabilization signal for providing a reference voltage. The demodulated sequence of synchronization signals is converted into the sequence of preamble signals with the reference voltage. Power is supplied intermittently to at least parts of the receivers in response to a first control signal and continuously to at least in response to a second control signal. The second control signal is provided upon detection of the preamble signal and the group assigned to its own receiver, and the first control signal is provided upon detection of the synchronization signal. The system according to the invention is of high reliability and low power drain.
