INTRAVENOUS FLUID WATER ABSTRACT A fluid warmer for raising to body temperature fluids for intravenous injection comprising a warmer module and a minimum volume disposable cartridge, the warmer module adapted to receive the disposable cartridge for heating fluid moving in the cartridge, the warmer module having a pair of concentric cylindrical heating elements adapted to encapsulate the hollow plastic cylinder sides of the disposable cartridge in a thermal conductance configuration, the outer of the pair of concentric heating elements having an inside cylindrical surface forming a conical frustum, and the inner concentric cylinder outside cylindrical surface forming an oppositely sloped conical frustum, the elongated annular plenum formed between the concentric cylinders adapted to receive the disposable hollow plastic similarly shaped cartridge so as to be engaged at all points on its inner and outer surfaces by the heating elements, the cartridge being sealed at both circular ends with lower inlet and upper outlet provided at one end to allow entrance and exit of fluid to be warmed, and a pair of elongated vanes extending axially lengthwise into the hollow cartridge to distribute the fluid completely throughout the formed plenum before exiting; the temperature of the inner and outer heating elements so controlled to effect thermal pumping of heat into the fluid interiorly the disposable cartridge.
