ABSTRACT Cleaning apparatus for removing toner from a photoconductor. The apparatus is characterized by a housing in which a cylindrical brush is supported for rotation. The housing has an opening communicating through a conduit with a vacuum source. A plurality of flicker bars mounted in an airstream created by the vacuum source are fabricated from materials which will not only cause the fibers of the brush to become electrostatically charged through wiping contact with the bars but will cause the charge on the brush to reverse at least once for each revolution of the brush, such reversal taking place while the brush fibers are in the airstream.
