ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A laser knife is provided with a mechanism by which a plurality of specialized hand pieces may be detach- ably coupled to the front end portion of the optical fiber light path for the laser. This mechanism uses an optical fiber as a light conducting path and the mechanism com- prises a hand piece detachably coupled to the front end portion of this optical fiber. The hand piece is shaped so as to be able to confront a portion which is to be irradiated by the laser. There is also a connector adapted to couple the hand piece to the optical fiber.
