ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device for the automatic control of a traction gener- ator has a magnetic amplifier with a pattern winding connected in opposition to a control winding that has a current-limiting resistor and is connected to a correction winding having an ad- justable resistor. A load resistor having a centre tap is connected in parallel with the control winding that incorporat- es the current-limiting resistor. Two rectifying bridges are interconnected through the load resistor having the centre tap, one of the bridges being connected to a current transducer and the other to a voltage transducer. Provision is made at the output of each of the rectifying bridges for smoothing capaci- tors and for supply sources of a constant reference voltage. The supply sources are connected in opposition through a diode. A correction unit in the form of a rectifying bridge connected between the rectifying bridges and the centre tap of the loading resistor makes a T-circuit. The two arms of the circuit are built up of the load resistor with the centre tap, while the third arm thereof is essentially the correction winding with the magnetic amplifier adjustable resistor. The device is appli- cable to high power drive units for diesel-electric locomotives, heavy earth-moving equipment and the like.
