Abstract of the Disclosure The disclosure herein relates to a new process for the preparation of N-(halomethyl)acyl- amides by reacting the corresponding N-(alkoxymethyl)- acylamide with thionyl chloride or thionyl bromide in the presence of a Lewis Acid catalyst.
