ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for producing 2,3,5-trimethyl- benzoquinone is disclosed which comprises oxidizing 2,3,6- trimethylphenol in the presence of a catalyst composed of cupric chloride and lithium chloride in a solvent comprising a mixture of an aromatic hydrocarbon and a lower aliphatic alcohol having 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
