TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN BE IT KNOWN that DAVID WESTON, of 34 Parkwood Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, M4V 2X1, a Canadian citizen, has invented certain new and useful improvements in PRODUCTION OF ALUMINUM CHLORIDES FROM BAUXITES AND CLAYS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE At least a two stage chlorination system for the production of aluminum trichloride and aluminum monochloride wherein in the gas stream containing the highest percentages of aluminum chloride produced CO2 is present and the said gas stream is passed through a charcoal or devolatilized coke bed in a pre- ferred temperature range of about 1000°C. to 1600°C. to con- vert the said CO2 to CO and cycling at least part of the said CO produced to at least the second chlorination stage
