ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed herein is an integrated carbon article of a large size comprising carbon elements and flexible graphite sheet(s). The carbon article is produced by interposing the flexible graphite sheet between adjacent pieces of carbonaceous material(s), bonding the pieces of carbonaceous material(s) and the flexible graphite sheet(s) with an adhesive agent, thereby obtaining a composite carbonaceous material and calcining the composite material at a temperature of at least 800°C. The carbon article is integrated into a wholly carbonized body having a bulk density of more than 1.01 g/cm3. The pieces of carbonaceous material to be bonded may be the same or different quality.
