ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides new (2-propynyl- amino)isoxazole and (3-iodo-2-propynylamino)isoxazole deriva- tives of the formula I: Image (I) wherein R1 and R2 each is hydrogen, C1-C10 alkyl, C1-C4 alkoxy, C3-C6 cycloalkyl, halogen, A-CH2-, B-, B-CH2- or B-CH2O- wherein A is C1-C4 alkoxy or mono- or di-C1-C4 alkylamino and B is phenyl, furyl, thienyl or imidazolyl optionally substituted by one or two groups selected from the group consisting of halogen and carboxy; R1 and R2 when taken together may form C2-C5 alkylene; R3 and R4 each is hydrogen or C1-C4 alkyl, and X is hydrogen or iodine. The compounds of the invention have anti-microbial activity and are used as active ingredients in anti-microbial compositions for medical use, for agricultural use and for veterinary use.
