ABSTRACT This invention is an ignition resistant carbonate polymer composition containing from 0.001 to 10 weight percent based on the weight of the carbonate polymer of a polyether polyol-metal salt complex. The metal salt consists of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal cation and a halogen-containing anion. The polyether polyol has a weight average molecular weight from 1,000 to 50,000. The carbonate polymers are transparent with low haze and still have high ignition resistance. The ignition resistance can be improved by the addition aromatic compound.
