Abstract The invention relates to a fertilizer promoting the take-up of phosphorus ions. The composition of the invention contains 2 to 10 per cent by weight of a silicon additive while the silicon content of the additive expressed in silicon dioxide lies between 2 and 10 per cent by weight. Using the composition of the invention the quantity of the used phosphorus fertilizer may be advantageously reduced without decreasing the yield. The composition of the invention may be extended to complex fertilizers, too, which include phosphorus and potassium as active agent.
