METHOD FOR READING AN IMAGE OF DOCUMENT ABSTRACT A method is disclosed which reads an image of a document by relatively moving said document to a scan/read device, which scans said document in a main scan direction, by the steps of; relatively moving a stripe pattern, which is inclined from the main scan direction, to the scan/read device as said docment and the scan/read device are relatively moved; detecting by the scan/read device the movement of said stripe pattern in the main scan direction, and; controlling the read operation of the document in response to the detected movement of said stripe pattern.
