ABSTRACT Substituted 1,8-naphthyridinones of formulae V, VI or VII Image VI V VII wherein n is 1 or 2; R1 and R2 may be combined to form a bond, or R1 is hydrogen and R2 is OR, halogen or NR3R4; R is hydrogen, carboxylic acyl or carbamyl; R3 and R4 are independently hydrogen or alkyl having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or R3 and R4 may be combined with the nitrogen to which they are attached to form a pyrrolidino, piperidino, morpholino or piperazino ring; R5 is hydrogen or carboxylic acyl; and Y is CH or N. The compounds possess anti-allergic, anti- inflammatory and cytoprotective activity.
