ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Air treating apparatus and associated method which employs a fan having a disc-like member fixedly secured thereto at the entry side. The disc-like member has a plurality of openings extending over a major portion of radial extent of the disc-like members. Power is provided to rotate the fan. Mist or dry particles impinging upon the disc are urged radially outwardly by the centrifugal force and passage through the openings into the fan interior is resisted. In one embodiment the center portion of the disc-like member is imperforate and water may be impinged thereon to either assist with the cleaning action or to permit the apparatus to serve as a humidifier.
