A core-cladding optical fiber having a plastic cladding composed of-an amorphous copolymer having a single glass transition temperature of at least 125°C but lower than 140°C is described. The amorphous copolymer comprises (a) units derived from a fluorodioxole represented by the formula [I]: (see fig.I) wherein R and R' are ~luorine or trifluoromethyl, and (b) units derived from at least one monomer selected from tetrafluoroethylene, chlorotrifluoroethylene, Rf - CF = CF2 (in which Rf is a primary fluoroalkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms) and Rg - OCF = CF2 (in which Rg is a primary fluoroalkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms or a primary fluoroalkyl group having 4 to 12 carbon atoms as a whole and oxygen of an ether bond).
