Abstract of The Disclosure Novel substituted 2-mercaptoimidazoles of the formula (I) Image in which at least one of the radicals R1 and R2 denotes a pyridyl radical which may be N-oxidised, or a thienyl radi- cal and the other one denotes a phenyl radical which is un- substituted or substituted by halogen, R3 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, n is 0, 1 or 2 and R4 denotes a lower alkyl radical which is unsubstituted or substituted, in a position higher than the .alpha.-position, by hydroxy, lower alkoxy or lower alkylthio, and their pharmaceutically usable salts exhibit anti-infIammatory, anti-nociceptive and/or anti- thrombotic activity. The compounds of the formula I can be prepared by methods known per se and suitable such methods are described.
