23443-343 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Butyloligoglycosides are produced by reacting aqueous saccharide syrups with n-butanol in the presence of butyloligoglycosides as well as acid catalysts. The addition of previously-prepared butyloligoglycosides makes it possible to carry out the reaction in a homogeneous solution using inexpensive starting materials. The process can be carried out either batchwise or continuously. The products may be used for the preparation of polyurethanes and sufactants. 80/RRC
