Abstract In a priority valve (3) for hydraulic installations having a main circuit (4) and an auxiliary circuit (5), there is a bore (20) with annular grooves and a slide (21) therein that has collars and, depending on demand for pressure fluid by the main circuit (4), adjusts in opposite senses, throttles (54 to 57) in a first throttle path (58) leading from the pump (1) to the main circuit (4) and in a second throttle path (59) leading from the pump (1) to the auxiliary circuit (5) such that the excess amount of pressure fluid is always fed to the auxiliary circuit (5). In the second throttle path (59) at least two throttles (55, 56, 57) are connected in series. They are formed by passage-shaped throttles which are variable during slide motion and disposed between at least two adjacent collars (47, 48, 49) and a respective bore section (41, 42, 43) adjoining an annular groove (35, 36, 37).
