Patent Application For Electric Power Rod Abstract A device to feed an electric cable, from above, to power electric lawnmowers, snow-blowers, and other outdoor electric implements. Thus avoiding the danger of cutting the cable as it is trailing on the grass or ground. Also to easily and permanently store the electric cable under the protection of a roof overhang and a reel. Specification When cutting grass with an electric lawnmower, for instance, it is common practice, at present, to have the power cable trailing along the ground behind the appliance. Thus making the work dangerous and inconvenient. Dangerous in a way that the electric cable may be accidentally cut contributing to electric shocks and fires. I have found that these disadvantages can be overcome by constructing an arrangement of rod and reel as presented in the overall view of fig. 1. In fig. 1 the details of the invention consist of: A rod (1) constructed from an insulating material such as fiberglass or similar. Being telescopic or rigid in construction, approx. 3-6m (10-20ft) long. The above said rod being attached to a bracket (2) which mounts under a roof overhang on the house wall or on the overhang itself. (See fig. 1 and fig. 2). This bracket is constructed in such a way as to point the rod 0°-15°(adjustable) upwards when the rod is swung out at 90°angle from the house. Yet swings under the roof overhang when parallel to the house wall where it remains for storage. (See fig. 2). At the base of the said rod and attached to it is a cable reel (3) containing sufficient length of electrical cable (4) to extend approx. 15-25m (50-75ft) beyond the end of the rod. This reel?should have a spring-action cable retractable mechanism. Also incorporate a ratchet device which could be disabled at will. The electric cable coming from the reel should be passed through easy running blocks (5) and terminated with a three pin cap to allow to plug in the appliance used. A stop (6) should be provided on the cable as to limit its travel home into the reel, thus provide an end for convenient withdrawl of the cable for use when in storage position. The feed cable to the reel can be plugged in any convenient socket (electrical outlet) or permanently wired.
