ABSTRACT A cartridge containing therein a rotatable record- ing medium disc has fixed at its center a disc hub. The disc hub has a first hub portion positioned on one side of the disc and a second hub portion coaxial with the first hub portion and positioned on the other side of the disc. The casing has a first casing element and a second casing element holding the disc therebetween. The first casing element has a first center window in which the first hub portion is in- serted; a first head window in which a head for recording and/or reproducing information on the disc can be inserted from outside the cartridge; and a first shutter member mov- ably supported by the first casing element for opening and closing the first window. The second casing element has a second center window coaxial with the first center window and in which the second hub portion is inserted; a second head window in which a head for recording and/or reproducing information on the disc can be inserted from outside the cartridge; and a second shutter member movably supported by the second casing element for opening and closing the second opening. The cartridge further has a shutter actuating mem- ber movably supported by the casing and coupled to the first and second shutter members for moving the shutter members, the shutter actuating member having an exposure portion ex- posed to the outside of said casing and moved by an external force applied to the exposure portion in a direction parallel to a side edge of the casing.
