Abstract of the disclosure: Dichlorophenylphosphane, C6H5PCl2, is pre- pared by reacting chlorodiphenylphosphane, (C6H5)2PCl, with phosphorus trichloride, PCl3, at temperatures between about 295 and 700°C. In the lower part of this tempera- ture range, i.e. from about 295 to 500°C, the reaction is preferably carried out under superatmospheric pressure, in particular under autogenous pressure, while in the upper part of the temperature range, i.e. from about 500 to 700°C, atmosphcric pressure is preferably used. Dichlorophenylphosphane is in the main a valuable inter- mediate in various fields, such as, for example, the crop protection and the polymer sectors.
