--ABSTRACT A papermakers wet felt having a multi-layered base fabric. Multiple layers of machine direction yarns are interwoven with a system of cross machine direction yarns having selected floats such that the cross machine yarns predominate both the top and bottom surfaces of the base fabric. Each yarn of the cross machine direction yarn system interweaving with at least two layers of machine direction yarns.--
