Abstract of the Disclosure A roofing or siding system including a support piece adapted to be fixed in the bottom of a corrugation in an existing covering to a subjacent purlin of the covering through the covering. The support piece is made of a generally U-shaped section having the upper edges of wings thereof bent laterally outwardly to form two seats. Opposite ends of the seats are raised at a right angle to form abutments. An upper purlin is fixed to the support piece either by clamping the abutments of the piece onto corresponding edges of a U-shaped section of the purlin, or by screws inserted through the abutments into flanks of the U-shaped section.
