Abstract of the Disclosure An inlet valve is disclosed for use with a central vacuum system including a remotely located vacuum motor and a conduit system interconnecting the vacuum motor to a plurality of vacuum ducts. The inlet valve comprises a plate adapted to be mounted on a wall adjacent the end of each vacuum duct and having an opening therein with an inlet nozzle extending inwardly from such opening for connection to the vacuum duct, a door hingedly connected across the top edge of the plate and adapted to open a full 180° to provide easy access to the opening in the plate for the insertion of a vacuum cleaner implement, a sealing gasket mounted around the opening in the plate and adapted to be engaged by the door for closing the inlet nozzle when no implement is installed therein, and spring means for biasing the door against the sealing gasket.
