MISCIBLE FLOODING OF PREVIOUSLY WATER FLOODED RESERVOIRS (D#77,400-TCRL-010) ABSTRACT The invention is a tertiary hydrocarbon recovery method to be used with reservoirs which communicate with an aquifer and that have been previously waterflooded. The method is performed by injecting a miscible solvent into the reservoir to form an oil bank from the hydrocarbons therein. The oil bank, followed by the miscible solvent, is driven through the waterflooded region of the reservoir. The oil bank drives out a significant portion of the water in the waterflooded region and resaturates the waterflooded region with oil. The following miscible solvent bank sweeps the oil from the region newly resaturated with oil. Complete production of the oil is delayed until after the leading edge of the oil bank has passed through the previously waterflooded regions of the reservoir.
