THE USE OF A CHROMIUM-CONTAINING ALLOY Abstract of the Disclosure Corrosion of metal in apparatus handling and contacting concentrated sulfuric acid of strength greater than 96% H2SO4 is prevented by fabricating the apparatus from an alloy consisting essentially of 21 to 55% by weight chromium, 0 to 30% by weight iron, 0 to 5% by weight tungsten, 45 to 79% by weight nickel, and at least one impurity element selected from the group consisting of carbon, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, nitrogen, aluminium, copper, vanadium, titanium, tantalum and niobium.
