ABSTRACT Substituted 2,3,4,9-tetrahydro-1H-carba- zole-1-acetic acid derivatives and methods for their preparation and use are disclosed. The compounds are useful analgesic and anti-inflammatory agents. The compounds have the structure: Image (I) wherein R1 is lower alkyl containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7 are hydrogen or lower alkyl containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
