ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A deflection unit for picture tubes comprising a toroidal core composed of soft magnetic material and having two symmetrical halves. Each half of the core includes at least three projections for forming redirection points for a winding wound thereon. A winding is situated on each of the core halves and each winding comprises two winding halves. The winding halves are arranged so that they do not overlap and are symmetrically positioned relative to an imaginary plane which bisects both of the core halves and lies in the longitudinal axis of the toroidal core. The two winding halves are both wound from the center of the core half toward the respective ends of the core half.
