Case 3003 COMMUTATOR RISER FOR A DYNAMOELECTRIC MACHINE ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A rotor for a dynamoelectric machine has a plurality of spaced apart risers each coupled adjacent opposite end portions thereof to the commutator and a corresponding one of the armature coils so as to electrically couple the armature coils with the commutator. Each riser includes a bar having two major opposing surfaces and two narrower opposing edge surfaces. Each bar extends radially along its longitudinal axis with the two opposite end portions generally lying in the same plane in which the longitudinal axis extends. The bar includes a central portion between the opposite end portions which central portion gentle curves to deviate the bar at the central portion from the longitudinal plane whereby the narrow opposing edge surfaces of the bar have reciprocal serpentine shapes which increase the flexibility of the bar.
