Abstract of The Disclosure A means for securing a bearing to a shaft is disclosed, having an inner race with a raceway disposed around the shaft for receiving the bearing. Axial ex- tensions of the race are disposed around the shaft and contain set screws threaded radially therethrough to contact the shaft. The force applied to the screws deflects the extension into contact with the shaft, thereby securing the race and shaft together, and sel- ectively placed grooves are formed in the wall of the extension between the screws and the raceway to absorb the force placed on the extension and prevent or minimize distortion or lobbing of the raceway.
