ABSTRACT A bottle stopper adapted to be inserted into the mouth of a bottle. The stopper is adapted to be sealed to the bottle and has passage means between its ends. A valve member is provided in the passage means and is adapted to close the passage means when the bottle is upright to prevent liquid from entering the bottle. The valve member moves to open the passage means when the bottle is tilted to allow liquid to leave the bottle. Means are provided on the stopper for normally preventing tampering with the valve member.
