ABSTRACT A method for use in felling a tree using a circular saw mounted on the bottom end of a felling head frame. The tree is cut by the saw and allowed to drop on a butt plate carried by the frame after which it is gripped by gripping means carried on the frame. The invention is also directed toward an apparatus for carrying out the above method.
