PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF SINTERED BODIES Abstract of the disclosure: A process for preparing a sintered body which comprises either impregnating a filler material such as a strand of graphite fibers with an organosilicon high molecular weight compound or mixing such a filler material with such an organosilicon compound to form a mixture which is molded; heat treating the thus impregnated filler material or the thus molded mixture in an oxidizing atmosphere to infusibilize the organosilicon compound and then further heat treating the whole in an inert atmosphere to obtain a sintered body. In one embodiment, the further heat treating may be effected in a pressurized inert atmosphere if necessary.
