ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An incrementally variable transmission, particu- larly suitable for a bicycle, having a variable sprocket (20) which comprises: a drive flange (21) and an indexing flange (25) mounted on an axle (13) with a pair of sprocket- segment-planets (29) and at least a pair of idler-planets (31,31') sandwiched between said flanges and forming a relatively rigid structure, the planets adapted to expand and contract in response to a relative rotation of the flanges and thereby increase and decrease, respectively, the effective diameter of the variable-sprocket.
