ABSTRACT The invention is a polymeric composition which comprises the reaction product prepared by exposing one or more poly(arylcyclobutenes) having two or more aryl moieties with one or more cyclobutene rings fused to each aryl moiety, wherein the aryl moieties are directly bonded to one another or are connected by a bridging member wherein the bridging member is (1) a polyvalent inorganic radical or (2) a polyvalent organic radical, to temperatures at which the poly(arylcyclobutenes) undergo polymerization.
