ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to the method of broaching three intersecting slots, disposed at angles of 120° to each other, in a work piece and to an automatic machine for carrying out the method. Six work pieces are supported on a rotatable table equidistant from the axis of rotation thereof and spaced at 60° with respect to each other. A pair of diametrically opposite work pieces establish a line and the pair of work pieces at each side of the line establish lines parallel to that first line. Three elongated broaches are simultaneously advanced along such lines so that each broach cuts parallel slots in a pair of work pieces. The table is indexed by 120° so that a different pair of work pieces occupies the line of travel of each broach and the slot previously cut in each work piece is disposed at an angle of 120° to the paths of advance of the broaches. The apparatus includes an indexing mechanism for rotating the table as well as means for loading and unloading unfinished and finished work pieces respectively.
