ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A special fishing rig is provided which includes a resilient wire leg assembly which has an upper central spring loop which attaches to a fishing line. There are also symmetrical elongated legs connected to the spring loop. The legs can be moved from an expanded open hook setting position to a convex closed latched trapping position. The spring loop rings the legs to the open hook setting position. The legs terminate at a latch supporting loop and a swivel supporting loop. A latch assembly is connected to the latch supporting loop by a terminal loop. An intermediate line engaging loop is connected to the terminal loop. Furthermore there is a hooked fringe which has a cantilevered latch which is integral with the line engaging loop. A split ring is pivotally connected to a swivel supporting loop, the split ring latchingly connected and lockingly engaging the latch in the closed position and spaced from the latch in the open position. A swivel with an upper swivel ringlet is pivoted to the swivel supporting loop near the split ring. The swivel has a line receiving eyelet with a guide. The eyelet is lower than the split ring and intermediate line-engaging loop in the closed position. Finally, a hook engaging line extends through the eyelet of the swivel. The lower end of the line is connected to a hook, and the upper end is connected the intermediate line engaging loop of the latch assembly.
