ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Optical elements, which are to be connected to one another such as laser diodes, coupling optics and/or optical fibers and plug cylinders, are first secured to weldable adjustment members which are then displaced relative to one another with the coupling faces lying against one another without play until a desired position is reached and then are subsequently secured to each other by at least one spot weld in a region of a part seam formed by edges of the coupling faces by either laser beam welding or electron beam welding with the spot weld being positioned to obtain a high fixing precision and being spaced inwardly from a circle circumscribing the contour of the coupling face. The securing by the spot weld is both stable in time and also climate-resistant. The assembly is particularly suitable for the manufacture of optical transmitter modules and for plug parts of releasable plug connectors of light waveguides.
