ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An electrical coil apparatus with at least one turn has a central core member providing a cooling water passage to remove heat from the coil apparatus. The turn is made of conductor wire assemblies, each comprising a first layer of conductor wires wound in a predetermined direction around a central conductor wire and a second layer of conductor wires wound in said direction around the first layer, with each conductor wire assembly being wound in said direction around the central core member and shaped to compact the conductor wires in the space about the core member.
