The invention discloses a faying surface structure for guiding and/or positioning of components which is introduced into the surface of corresponding bodies. It is joined to identically or differently shaped countersurfaces. For the locating function, the countersurface rests on the centrosymmetrical bevels on the edges of abutting profile flanks, thus providing accurate, reproducible and self-centering positioning action. For transition to the guiding function, there suffices a fairly small clearance for the relevant structure to leave the locating point and reach another predefined position at a further locating point, guided between the profile flanks, or to assume an intermediate support position which support being provided sideways from the guidance axis. The faying surface structure is used as three-dimensional structural elements, or integrated into the surface of components for clamping, positioning or coupling applications.
