METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROCESSING COLOR VIDEO SIGNALS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and apparatus is disclosed for improving video signals. High spatial frequency portions of color- representative signals are added to a luminance channel in order to improve the apparent sharpness of images having saturated colors, improve monochrome presentations of color images, and/or reduce the bandwidth necessary to represent color-representative signal components of video signals.
