ABSTRACT A fluid carton made of cardboard, paper of the like, rendered impervious to fluids by a coating of plastics at least on the inside, has a double-walled triangular flap at least at one side, the inside of the flat communicating with the inside of the carton. A manually engageable double cardboard strip with a sealing seam is provided in the upper triangular wall of the flap and extends from the tip of the flap and into the adjacent upper wall panel of the carton. A weld, which seals the two triangular walls together in a fluid-tight manner, extends substantially transversely to the cardboard strip. At least one of the two triangular walls of the triangular flap is partially punched in along a line adjacent the weld, at the side thereof towards the tip of the triangular flap. The various superposed layers of wall are com- pressed to almost the same thickness (D) in the region of the weld. Such a weld is provided on both sides of the punched line and runs from one side edge of the triangular flap to the other, substantially in the middle of the flap.
