ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A vehicle wheel on which can be mounted a pneumatic tire. The wheel has a rigid rim, with the rile flanges extending essentially radially inwardly. The beads of the tire are mounted on the radially inner periphery of the rim ring. An annular member is disposed next to the tire beads. To increase the reliability of the vehicle wheel in the tire bead and rim flange regions, the rim flanges are undercut axially inwardly, the space formed by the undercuts accommodates portion of the tire bead and a portion of the bead core, and the annular member is in the form of a securing ring having such resistance to collapse and such inherent stability that, in con- junction with the tips or ends of the rip flanges, it exerts a wedging action on the tire bead.
