Abstract of the Disclosure A process for treating a subterranean zone by emplacing therein a hardenable aqueous slurry and then permitting the slurry to harden, where the slurry comprises a hydraulic cement, water, sodium bentonite, sodium metasilicate, and a hydroxyethyl cellulose. The composition and process employing same is particularly useful in the treatment of oil and gas wells where cementing of a weak formation or very long string cementing, in a single stage, is desired.
