ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device for use in laying pipeline having socketed pipes, the device consisting of a frame with two side walls. On the outside of the side walls there is mounted a number of hydraulic rams which can reciprocate an intermediate cross member to the front and to the rear of the frame. Additionally a profile blade is mounted in front of the frame and which can be moved down into the underlying layer to form a support surface for the socket of a pipe.
