A B S T R A C T The invention relates to a rough timber processing method during which the wood e.g. sawn wood that is prepared for seasoning is dried in a way that is known in itself; in a kiln, at a temperature of between 40°C and 100°C, down to a moisture-content of a least 30 per cent. According to the invention nitric acid is mixed with a solution of distilled water and alkaline earth metal salt, and this mixture is sprayed into the drying kiln at least one time. The spray loosens the pectine of the fibre that blocks the evaporation of the moisture, while the alkaline earth metal is being built amongst the fibres of the wood.
