Abstract: The present invention is directed to heat resistant organic fibers comprising a wholly aromatic polymer having an amide group and/or an imide group, said fibers having properties satisfying the following formulas Tm ? 350°C, Tm - Tex ? 30°C, Xc ? 10% DE ? 10% DSR(Tm) ? 15%, and Image wherein Tm is a melting point; Tex is an exotherm starting temperature; Xc is a degree of crystallization; DE is an elongation; DSR is a dry shrinkage factor at Tm; and DSR(Tm + 55°C) is a dry shrinkage factor at Tm + 55°C and to a process for producing the fibers.
