Abstract The present invention is directed to a polymeriza- tion which can be carried out rapidly by polymerizing a methacrylate ester or a mixture of unsaturated monomers comprising the methacrylate ester as a main component in the presence of (1) a hydroperoxide polymerization init- iator, (2) a sulfur-containing reductant, (3) a hydrogen halogenide salt of an amine or a quaternary halogenide and (4) a copper-containing compound.
